This popup<\/a> form can be accessed via the \"Add<\/a>add menu in the\u00a0top header area of the \"Programme<\/a>programme view page<\/a>, as shown in Figure 1. Some other the assets<\/a> containing this function in their view page top header area include the \"Project<\/a>project<\/a> and \"Product<\/a>product<\/a> levels, as well as at the \"Subproject<\/a>sub-project<\/a> and \"Release<\/a>release<\/a> levels. Alternatively you can access the \"Add<\/a>add popup form via the Defects<\/strong> tabbed view at any of these view pages, shown in Figure 2.\r\n

This popup is shown in Figure 3 and is used to add a new \"Defect<\/a>defect<\/a> to the selected asset.<\/p>\r\n

Asset fields:<\/th>\r\nThese read-only<\/em> fields (e.g. organisation, programme or project) will show the hierarchy of assets, and indicate where you are adding this defect.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Type:<\/th>\r\nUse this drop-down list to select the type of defect you are adding.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
(New type):<\/th>\r\nIf you have selected the “Add a new defect type” option in the Type<\/strong> field above, then this field will be visible. Use this field to enter a new defect type.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Title*<\/em><\/sup>:<\/th>\r\nEnter a short title for this defect in this field.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Description:<\/th>\r\nYou can add a short description of your defect here. Any particulars of the defect for example which device the test will be run on, can be added here.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Date raised:<\/th>\r\nThis is the date that the defect was first raised. It defaults to today. You may manually enter the date using one of the preset date formats<\/a>, or you can choose the date using \"choose<\/a>calendar control<\/a>.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Resolve by date:<\/th>\r\nThis is the date that the defect must be resolved by. You may manually enter the date using one of the preset date formats<\/a>, or you can choose the date using \"choose<\/a>calendar control<\/a>.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Module:<\/th>\r\nThis drop-down list can be used to select a module where this defect was encountered.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
(New module):<\/th>\r\nIf you have selected the “Add a new module” option in the Module <\/strong>field above, then this field will be visible. Use this field to enter a new module.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Version:<\/th>\r\nThis drop-down list can be used to select the version of the system or module being tested.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
(New version):<\/th>\r\nIf you have selected the “Add a new version” option in the Version <\/strong>field above, then this field will be visible. Use this field to enter a new version.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Build:<\/th>\r\nThis drop-down list can be used to select the build of the system or module being tested.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
(New build):<\/th>\r\nIf you have selected the “Add a new build” option in the Build <\/strong>field above, then this field will be visible. Use this field to enter a new build.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Symptoms:<\/th>\r\nYou can list particular symptoms of the defect here.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Priority:<\/th>\r\nThis field can be used to allocate a priority to this defect. Lists of defects can be ordered by priority to make it easier to decide which defects to address next.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Severity:<\/th>\r\nThis drop-down list can be used to select the severity of the defect. For example defects that prevent you from doing your work may have a high severity whereas spelling mistakes may have a very low severity.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Notes:<\/th>\r\nUse this field to capture any technical notes related to this defect.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Resolution:<\/th>\r\nThis drop-down list can be used to select the resolution of the defect.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
(New resolution):<\/th>\r\nIf you have selected the “Add a new resolution” option in the Resolution <\/strong>field above, then this field will be visible. Use this field to enter a new resolution.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Origin:<\/th>\r\nThis field can be used to capture details about who had raised the defect. The field is automatically filled with your \"icon_user\"<\/a>user<\/a> details, but it may be changed for example to a customer name.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Owner:<\/th>\r\nUse this drop-down list to select the person who has the overall responsibility for fixing this defect.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Allocated to users:<\/th>\r\nUse this multi-select box to select the user(s) you want to allocate this defect to. You may select multiple users by holding the CTRL or SHIFT keys and clicking on the name of the additional user(s). To de-select, click on the highlighted name while still holding the CTRL or SHIFT keys so as not to lose all other selected users.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Allocated to roles:<\/th>\r\nUse this multi-select box to select the role(s) you want to allocate this defect to. You may select multiple roles by holding the CTRL or SHIFT keys and clicking on the name of the additional role(s). The defect will be allocated to all of the members of the selected role(s). To de-select, click on the highlighted name while still holding the CTRL or SHIFT keys so as not to lose all other selected roles.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Workflow:<\/th>\r\nUse this drop-down list to select the applicable \"Workflow<\/a>workflow<\/a> for this defect. This field will only be visible if you have access to any Defect workflows.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Add attachment?:<\/th>\r\nIf you set this check box then a new form will be automatically opened so that you can attach a file to the new defect.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<\/tbody>\r\n<\/table>\r\n*<\/em><\/sup>The title is mandatory, but all others are optional.\r\n\r\nOnce you are happy with your entries click the “Add defect<\/strong>” button at the bottom of the form. This will add a new defect with the details that you supplied.\r\n\r\nThe new defect can be viewed in the Defect<\/strong>s<\/strong> tab at the parent asset’s view pages, as shown in Figure 4.\r\n\r\n\"\"<\/a>\r\n
