Microsoft Project integrates with Psoda\u2019s scheduling system where you can import from Microsoft Project to Psoda, or export schedules from Psoda to Microsoft Project.\r\n

\r\n

Import from Microsoft Project<\/h4>\r\n\r\nIn Microsoft Project make sure to save your project in XML format.<\/b> To do this click File<\/b> > Save As<\/b> > Browse<\/b>. Then click the Save as type<\/b> dropdown and choose XML.<\/b>\r\n
\r\n
\r\nIn Psoda, navigate to the schedule tab<\/b> where you want to import to Microsoft Project.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nScroll to the bottom of the table and click the import<\/b> menu located in the footer of the table. Click the \u201cImport WBS from MSProject XML file\u201d<\/b> button in the menu. This is shown in Figure 1.\r\n\r\n

\r\nIf you want your new tasks from Microsoft Project to be advanced estimates<\/b> in Psoda, check the \u201cMark all tasks as advanced estimates\u201d checkbox in Figure 2.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nIf you want to import the start and end dates<\/b> from Microsoft Project, check the \u201cImport start\/end dates\u201d checkbox in Figure 2. If you do not check this, Psoda will automatically calculate<\/b> the start and end dates for you.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nMicrosoft Project can contain rates against roles\/users. If you want to update these rates<\/b> on existing roles\/users in Psoda, check the \u201cUpdate rates on existing roles\/users\u201d checkbox in Figure 2.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nSelect the WBS or task group<\/b> you would like to update in Psoda in the \u201cUpdate WBS or task group\u201d dropdown in Figure 2. If you select \u201cNone\u201d, it will automatically create a new one for you.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nIf you want to baseline your WBS or task group in Psoda before you import<\/b> the Microsoft Project data, then check the \u201cBaseline WBS before update\u201d checkbox in Figure 2.\r\n\r\n

Figure 3 – Import from MSProject popup phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\nAs shown in Figure 3, the next phase is where you can map each resource<\/b> identified in the Microsoft Project file. This could be a role or a user in Psoda. Make sure these are all mapped to the correct person\/role<\/b> before moving on. Psoda automatically tries to best match the resources by the initials. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nIf you have permission, you can select add a new role\/user<\/b> from the dropdown and this will create this resource for you.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nLastly, click \u201cImport MS Project file\u201d to complete the import.\r\n
\r\n

\r\n

Export to Microsoft Project<\/h4>\r\n\r\nNavigate to the schedule tab<\/b> where you want to export to Microsoft Project.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nScroll to the bottom of the table and click the export table options menu located in the footer of the table. Click the \u201cExport to MSProject XML format\u201d<\/b> button in the menu. This is shown in Figure 4.\r\n\r\n

Figure 4 – Schedule options menu export to MSProject <\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\nThis should automatically download<\/b> the Microsoft Project XML file for you. Once the download completes, you will be able to then import<\/b> that file into Microsoft Project.<\/div>\r\n
